Food Blog Awards 2005: I’m a Finalist!
Okay, I am going to do something that I am not good at doing, and toot my own horn a wee bit here, because if I don’t, Zak will bean me on the head with a pillow. So here we go–a post that is all about me.
Or rather, my writing.
I’m a finalist for the 2005 Food Blog Awards, in the category: Best Post, Reader’s Choice, for my post “Meat Comes From Animals, Deal With It Or Eat Vegetables.” This post got my blog more traffic than I ever imagined, as it was ping-ponged back and forth through the blogosphere and beyond, all the way from farmers and those who love them, to support sites for Moms to a guitar forum to email to everywhere.
Anyway, that said, if you haven’t read the post, please go check it out, and if you like it, please run over to The Accidental Hedonist and vote for me. And get all your friends to do the same. And your families. And your families’ dogs. And cats. Remember, I love cats.
And I want to thank you all, not only for putting up with this self-indulgent vote request, but also for reading my blog and supporting it for the past nearly twelve months. Thank you for the comments, suggestions, thoughts and love. You guys are really the best.
Hey–and now that I have your attention, do me a favor and check out Mahanandi--Indira’s Indian food blog. She’s been nominated in the category for best recipes, and I want you all to look at her site and maybe even vote for her. Her recipes never fail to inspire me, and I bet they would probably inspire a lot of other folks, too.
While I am giving recommendations, I nominated Too Many Chefs for best group blog (come to think of it, I nominated Mahanandi, too–I have good taste, you see), and if you don’t read them, you should check them out and give them some love. They have a mixed group of opinions, views and cooking styles represented there, and they are always fun, especially when Barrett gives Rachael Ray some heck, or when Meg tells us about feeding her wee one solid food.

Congrads Barbara – You got my vote!

Congratulations Barbara.
I already voted for you in this category.
I don’t know how you not nominated in ‘best writing’ category. That’s a sorry miss. You are the best writer out there in food blogosphere, without going all uppity on people.

My vote is in …. and you should have been in a couple of other categories too!
Good luck
Maureen

Thank you, Kirk.
Very many thanks (with blushes) to you, Indira. Your words mean a great deal to me–I do try very hard not to be uppity and all of that. Life is too short for there to be a lot of uppitiness in the world, and I don’t want to add any from me, if I can help it. I am glad you noticed.
Maureen–thank you for your vote and your kind words, too.

I, too, wanted to vote for you as ‘best writer’ but I settled for voting for just the meat rant.
GoodWishing and hugs—Judith
